2009 Vision: Serving the community through music and acts of kindness
Be thinking about how God is going to specifically use you in 2009! What specific gifts to you bring to the table? Will it be specific to the evening like the set-up crew, singing or playing? Or will it be marketing or administration? Remember that the plan is simple: we play some music at Starbucks and simply invite them to come and worship with us on Sunday mornings. Who knows who will walk through our doors to learn about the saving power of Jesus if we simply go to them first! Isn't that what Jesus did? :)
Choir & Orchestra: We will practice this Sunday night (April 6) from 6:00-7:30 P.M.
Since the Hawk Nelson concert is on April 17, we will practice this Sunday night! Any new people are welcome to join us for the first time! We'll be busy preparing for the April 27 worship service. As I've said before, anyone with a love for God and music who is high school age and older can join us! We practice every Sunday night at 6:00 P.M. and childcare is provided for every practice.
Sunday night I announced that on Sunday night, April 13 we will vote on 2 things:
1) Do all the men in the choir want to sing for Mother's Day Sunday? (May 14)
- Practice would be on Tuesday night, May 6 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Childcare will NOT be provided for that practice.
2) Does the choir and orchestra want to lead worship on July 6?
- We would practice on June 15, 22 & 29th (Sunday nights). Childcare WILL be provided for those practices.
- We would do the special song "One Nation Under God."
Like I said at practice, I would really like to do this, but only if you share my deep desire too! So on Sunday night, April 13, we'll put it up for a vote. If at least a 2/3 majority of the choir & orchestra is willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen, then great! If not, that's fine too. I just want it to be your decision! So pray about it, and we'll decide on April 13.
Value of the Month: Excellence (March)
We define excellence as "doing the very best you can with what you have." A great example of this was our very own Wes Whiteside. He put in some extra time to fix our orchestra platforms last week, and they are great! He did a wonderful job working with the wood and carpet to make the platforms come in and out easier. He also completed it in a timely fashion, and kept the cost down. Above all, it was a quality job. He did "the very best with what he had," and it turned out great! Thanks Wes!
God bless you all,
Phill
