1 Corinthians 12:18-20 "But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.”
We all have a specific role to play in the worship ministry that specifically uses our strengths and talents. Not all of us can sing, not all of us can play an instrument, not all of us can act in the drama or be part of the media team. But God has given us specific roles to play. Consider what John Maxwell says in his book The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork on “finding your niche.”
- Be Secure: If you allow your insecurities to get the better of you, you’ll be inflexible and reluctant to change. And to grow, you must be willing to change.
- Get to know yourself: You won’t be able to find your niche if you don’t know your strengths and weaknesses. Spend time reflecting on and exploring your gifts. Ask others to give you feedback. Do what it takes to remove personal blind spots.
- Trust your leader: A good leader will help you start moving in the right direction. If you don’t trust your leader, look to another mentor for help.
- See the Big Picture: Your place on the team makes sense only in the context of the big picture. If your only motivation for finding your niche is personal gain, your poor motives may prevent your from discovering your desire.
- Rely on your experience: When it comes down to it, the only way to know that you’ve discovered your niche is to try what seems right and learn from your failures and successes. When you discover what you were made for, your heart sings!
I firmly believe that everyone is a “10” in one particular area. It’s my prayer that everyone begins to discover their God-given “niche” this month! So, in order to accomplish this, I'm asking everyone in the worship ministry to take the spiritual gifts analysis test on the FCCN website. You can go directly there by clicking this link: http://www.fccn.org/Resources/SpiritualGiftsAnalysis/tabid/206/Default.aspx
Remember that there are no right or wrong answers. You are just starting to understand how God has uniquely wired you for service. I logged onto the analysis again last week and found out that my top 2 spiritual gifts are Administration and Evangelism.
I shared this with the praise team yesterday, and have already received some results from a few people. You all rock!
After you complete the analysis, you will be asked to enter an email address. Would you please put my email address there? It is pfoust@fccn.org. I will review it and send another copy to your equipper.
I look forward to hearing from you all this month!
God bless,
Phill
