Worship Ministry Update: 11/4/08

2009 Vision: Serving the Community through the Arts and Acts of Kindness

This Saturday, Louis Rose, James Geisler & I will be performing at the health fair this Saturday, November 8, here at FCCN.  We'll start around noon in the dining room.  There will be tons of people on our campus, and this will give them a chance to hear some music and hopefully want to come back on Sunday.  So come by, grab a bite to eat, and hear some acoustic groovin', harmony soothin', percussion boomin' muzak. :)

 Choir & Orchestra

Thanks for doing a great job again Sunday!  You all are such an encouragement to me.  Here's something that was sent to me from Suzy Dayvolt:

Phill,

Wow!!!  What more can one say after the singing on Sunday by the choir.  They sounded great!  The song was super!  I can't wait to see the Christmas cantata!

Susy

I hope to see you all this Sunday night @ 6:00!  We will have no more sectionals, so we'll be together as a full group for the entire practice time.  Here's the practice schedule:

6:00-6:05 Prayer and memorization pep talk!

6:05-6:45: practice the following songs as a full group:
"Do You Hear What I Hear"
        "Little Town"
       "Sing Noel"
"O Holy Night / O Come All Ye Faithful"

    6:45-7:05 Prayer Groups

    7:05-7:25     "One King"
"My Soul Does Magnify the Lord"

FWI: We will be singing all of these songs at the Eastland Mall on Sunday evening, Nov. 23, along with "How Can I Keep from Singing" & "Let the Worshippers Arise."

Costumes for the Christmas Musical

Doreen Robertson, our costume director, would like to give the following info to the men in the choir:

"I need old ball caps, something you don't expect to wear as it will not be returned: you may put your name in them if you wish."  Doreen will need the hats to make headdresses for the musical.  You can give them to me or Doreen on Sunday.

Value of the Month: Memorization

I've heard it a million times: "I can't memorize."  Hmmm.  May I ask a question: what's your favorite movie?  May I ask one more question: can you quote a few lines?  I'll be you can quote more than a few lines, and here's why: you've seen it many times.

That is the first key to memorization: repetition.  Listening to your CD, repeating the lines, reading the Bible: hearing the same thing over and over will help you memorize it.  To be honest, that's how I memorized Jonah: I played the CD over and over while I exercised.  It wasn't really difficult, it just took time.  I invite you to try it for a week: you'll be quoting before you know it. :)
