Worship Ministry update: 4/27/09

2009 Vision: Impacting the Community Through the Arts and Acts of Kindness

Two big events with the 2009 vision I want to tell you about:

The Guys Concert this Sunday Night! (6:30 P.M. in the Chapel)

We've been working hard and look forward to singing for all of you!  In fact, we're practicing at 6:00 A.M. tomorrow morning (obviously not my idea, but I go with what they want to do).  Anyway, we want to invite YOU to the concert at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday night in the chapel.  Remember, If you enjoy new country music or listening to KLOVE (95.3 FM), this is the concert for you!  After the concert, the Guys will begin performing in the community.

Chicken and Music (Saturday, May 16)

What more could you want? The FCCN Worship Ministry Small Group will be performing at the Chick-fil-A in Newburgh. The Family Fun Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th at 3:00 pm. The festivities will start that mourning and continue into the early afternoon. There will also be a story telling group, a magician, and a dance group. So go ahead and gather up the family and come enjoy some Chicken and Music!

WORSHIP NIGHT, MAY 9
EVERYONE young and old is invited to come make a joyful noise at our next Worship Night, on Saturday evening, May 9. We often get asked, "So when are you going to do another one of those worship nights?" It's coming up quick, so write it on your calendar now! Join us for some high-energy singing and "interactive" worship, in a more intimate setting, with your hometown XP Band. Whether you are 15, 35, or 65, you'll want to be a part of it. Saturday, May 9, at 6 pm, upstairs in the high school room. As always, we're encouraging kids to worship with their parents, but even if your children might be too young for that, bring 'em out! We'll have child care as well.

Questions? Contact Eric Rudisill or Scott Lehman.
Value of the Month: Ephesians 4:29

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen"

From personal experience, I have learned the wisdom of the verse.  You will gain far more influence by building others up: not tearing them down.  A heartfelt word of encouragement goes much farther than making fun of someone: even when it's done it a "friendly way."  Are you interested in gaining influence?  Then follow what the bible says: "build others up according the their needs..."

Some exciting things are happening this month!  I look forward to the journey with all of you.  God bless you all,

Worship Ministry update: 4/20/09

2009 Vision: Impacting the community through the arts and acts of kindness

The Guys vocal concert is coming up fast: Sunday night, May 3 @ 6:30! We've been working hard and we're just about ready!  If you enjoy new country music or listening to KLOVE (95.3 FM), this is the concert for you!  After the concert, the Guys will begin performing in the community.

I haven't gotten ANY pictures from you all!  Remember, during the concert, we will be showing a video while we sing the song called "In Color."  We need pictures from WWII, the Korean War and the great depression.  If anyone has pictures of grandparents, parents or yourself that you would like to share with us, please let me borrow them.   I will need them by this Sunday! (April 26)!

According to Ephesians 4:29, we are commanded to build each other up.  It's not hard for me to do that this week:

I'm still geekin' out about the quality job that the choir and orchestra did at the Right to Life Banquet!  It was an awesome experience.  I want to compliment you all one more time: you had all your music down, you all showed up on time, you looked alive on stage! You even wore what I asked you to wear. :)  When we hit the stage and started the first song, I just started laughing: I was overcome with so much joy to be with you all and direct for such an awesome opportunity.  You all make me feel good. :)

Choir and orchestra will begin again Sunday night, September 13.  Much too long in my opinion, but the break will be nice.  See you in September,

Worship Ministry update: 4/19/09

Choir and Orchestra

Wow!  Thanks for doing an awesome job at the banquet!  It was an experience I will never forget!  What a wonderful opportunity to sing/play for so many people.  In fact, you all were the big topic as I walked around FCCN today during the worship services.

I believe God was lifted high.  With the overwhelming response from the community, I believe life changing results will come from it!  I hope you enjoy the pictures!  Sorry orchestra, did anyone snap one of you all too?  Send them to me and I'll include them in the next update.

Rain, rain, go away!

Looks like we'll cancel the worship ministry appreciation get together tonight.  We'll pick another day when it's nice and dry.  I still appreciate all of you, even when it rains! :)

If you happen to be a farmer, and you ever need rain: ask me to schedule something outside...

Worship Ministry update: 4/14/09

 Choir and Orchestra

Thank you all for doing a wonderful job on Easter Sunday!  It was great to serve with all of you!  You all were a blessing to so many people, including me!

I know that you all will rock the Centre on Thursday!  I'm looking forward to it!  Here's the details:

Directions to the Centre:  From I-64 - Take US 41 South approximately 17 miles to the Lloyd Expressway Exit. Take the exit and turn to the right. Continue on the Lloyd Expressway to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Exit. Take the MLK Blvd. exit and turn to the left, travel to the 5th stoplight which will be Locust Street. Turn left at the light and The Centre will be on your immediate right.  Park in the east parking lot.  (if available) and enter in the 2nd set of doors of The Centre.  Once inside go to the far east end of the lobby and go behind the black pipe and drape.  (This section is for media only...but will also be the staging area for the choir and orchestra).

Wednesday night, April 15 @ 6:00 P.M. at the Centre (sound check for right to life banquet) (childcare will be provided at the FCCN  nursery)

            - this will just be a sound check, not a full practice.  We'll probably run through all of "If you are an American," and parts of a few other songs.

           - dress: whatever you want to wear. :)

            - I'll be driving the FCCN van since I don't have a vehicle anyway.  If you would like to ride with me, be at FCCN at 5:15ish.  We'll leave at 5:30.  Don't be late: you KNOW I'll leave on time. :)  I'll also take you back to FCCN after sound check is over.

            - If you need childcare, Jennifer will be in the FCCN nursery at 5:30, so you can drop them off there.  She'll take them up the the elementary big room (with Fritz) around 6:30, so you can pick them up there after the sound check at the Centre.

Thursday night, April 16: 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the Centre (Right to Life Banquet performance!) (NO childcare provided)

                Set list:

“God is in the House” (Sandy Schooler solo)

“God of this City” (J.R. Holesinger solo)

“Your Grace is Enough” (Bob Walters solo)

                - dress: blue worship ministry polo shirts with black dress pants, black dress socks and black dress shoes.  Black is the new black. :)

                - I'll be driving the FCCN van, so if you would like to ride with me, be at FCCN at 5:15ish.  We'll leave at 5:30.  We'll take you back after we sing AND after the banquet is over (we'll make 2 trips if needed!).

2009 Vision: The Guys Concert!

The guys vocal team will be doing our first concert in the chapel on Sunday night, May 3 @ 6:30!  If you enjoy new country music or listening to KLOVE (95.3 FM), this is the concert for you!  After the concert, the Guys will be performing in the community as part of the 2009 vision: impacting the community through the arts and acts of kindness.  I am very excited about all of this!

Easter Sunday is 6 days away!

Yeah man!  It will be awesome to celebrate Jesus' victory over death.  As I mentioned last week, all participants (media team, choir & orchestra, drama) will park off campus at Castle High School.  The only exceptions are if you have very small children, you're retired, or have some physical disability.  Brad Ferris has agreed to be the bus driver again!  The bus will be running from 6:30-7:00 A.M. Easter Sunday morning.  We'll also take you back after the 2nd service is over.  Thanks so much for doing this!

Choir and Orchestra

Here's the choir and orchestra schedule for the rest of the spring:

TODAY:  Tuesday night, April 7 (6:00-8:00 P.M.)  Jennifer (my wife) will be providing childcare in the nursery.

    Sunday morning, April 12 (7:00 A.M.)

Wednesday night, April 15 @ 6:00 P.M. at the Centre (sound check for right to life banquet) (childcare will be provided at FCCN)

Thursday night, April 16: 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the Centre (Right to Life Banquet performance!) (NO childcare provided)

FCCN Worship Ministry Shirts

I'm wearing my shirt today!  We picked the national champion color: North Carolina blue! :)   We will be wearing the FCCN worship ministry polo shirts for the banquet.  The shirt committee asked me to pick what to wear with the shirts, so guess what color I am going to pick? BLACK.  Big surprise, I'm sure!  We will wear black dress pants with black socks and black shoes.  No exceptions please.

All Worship Ministry Appreciation picnic! Sunday night, April 19 @ 6:00 P.M.!

I want to say thank you to ALL worship ministry participants: drama, sign choir, media team, set builders, creative material people, praise team, praise band, choir and orchestra, etc.!  So let's get together and have some fun!  We'll be getting together at the home of Mike & Cynthia Mushrush: 4066 Hwy 62 W in Boonville.  We'll be providing the meat and the drinks, so everyone please bring a side dish (preferably) or a dessert.    I look forward to being with you all and saying thank you for all your hard work!

I got no response from Scott Lehman about my volleyball challenge last week.  Huh.  But I can say only good things about him, because our value for the month:

Value of the Month: Ephesians 4:29

Ephesians 4:29 says: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Isn't is easier to say something negative than something positive?  But according to Ephesians 4, we are commanded to build each other up: to be encouraging, loving, just like Jesus.

Believe me, this will be very important as we impact the community.  For example, there may be a "less than excellent" performance by another group at the Fall Festival right before we perform.  It will be EXTREMELY important that we follow Ephesians 4:29.  If we made fun of them, NO ONE would listen to our message.  FCCN worship ministry, Ephesians 4:29 will be important for us inside the church as well as outside.

    He has risen!
