Worship Ministry Update: June 22

This is the weekly worship ministry blog!  If you would rather not receive this, just reply to me and let me know!  I'll take you off the list if I'm a bother to you. :)

2009 Vision: Impacting the community through the arts and acts of kindness : Warrick County Musical: July 16-18

Warrick County Summer Musical :  We're serving dinner beforehand!

At 5:30 on Thursday-Saturday evenings, we'll be serving a meal to the people before they see the musical.  I look forward to serving them and being with all of you!

As I mentioned last week,  Freddie and Melinda Pipes will be preparing all of the food, but we get to opportunity to serve it to them!  I look forward to serving these people, extending a "cup of cold water" in Jesus' name.  The procededs from the dinner will help cover the cost of our Christmas Musical in December!

There are 3 ways you can be involved:

        1) Wendesday night, July 15, helping Freddy and Melinda prep the food (peal potatos, etc.)

        2) Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings: help serve the food before the musical

        3) Helping take phone orders from  11:00-1:00 and 5:00-7:00  Monday through Thursday at Castle High School, room 116

We're in special need of people to take phone orders!  Please let us know if you can do that ASAP!

Jake Miller, our worship ministry intern, will be coordinating the volunteers.  Please contact jake at jmiller@fccn.org if you want to help!   Or you can just reply to me and I'll forward your email on to him.  Whatever. :)

    Random blog thought

My dad and step mom are in town to see the grandkids this week!  Jennifer and I get to go out tonight, sit down at a restaurant, and just talk, with NO kids.  Ah, it will be legendary!

    God bless,

Worship Ministry Update: June 18

This is the weekly worship ministry blog!  If you would rather not receive this, just reply to me and let me know!  I'll take you off the list if I'm a bother to you. :)

A lengthy blog to make up for the rather short one last week.  Do you all prefer a long one or a short one?  Or maybe the real question is, do you actually read the long ones? :)

2009 Vision: Impacting the community through the arts and acts of kindness

The attached picture is from last Friday night when Jennifer and I stopped by Starbucks to see the band "Submerged."  The lead singer, Megan Elmore, has recently started coming to FCCN.  They were good.  They had a clear rock sound and the message was great.  We only were able to stop by for about 20 minutes (the baby needed to be fed again), but I really enjoyed the experience!

I look forward to doing things like this with you all in the future.

Warrick County Summer Musical

The Musical will be performed on our campus on July 16-18.  They are doing Oklahoma, and it will be such a blessing to have all of these people here at FCCN!

The worship ministry has been chosen to serve a meal before the musical!  Freddie and Melinda Pipes will be preparing all of the food, but we get to opportunity to serve it to them!  I look forward to serving these people, extending a "cup of cold water" in Jesus' name.  The procededs from the dinner will help cover the cost of our Christmas Musical in December!

        2) Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings: help serve the food before the musical

        3) Helping take phone orders from 11:00-1:00 Weekdays here at FCCN.

Please let us know if you want to voluteer! It will be simple: serving one meal to the people at the tables.  Jake Miller, our worship ministry intern, will be coordinating the volunteers, but I will be there each night to help serve as well.  Please contact jake at jmiller@fccn.org if you want to help!

Garry Bradley wrote the postscript for us this week.  He's the elder over the worship ministry and sings in the choir with us.

Welcome to Summer and all of the challenges that come with it. I hope everyone is staying cool and collected and that your allergies are, if not calm at least in control.
I am writing this to us all because there are other challenges that face us at this time in the Body of Christ. Challenges that affect us all in the various ministries we are involved with besides the Worship Ministry and Choir. I know that many of us participate in a lot of areas of service in the Body of Christ.
In order to seek God's guidance, the Elders sent out a letter outlining many of the successes of the Body here at FCCN so far this year. One of the things that was listed was our Choir's performance at the Right to Life Banquet. There are many things that the Worship Ministry is doing that could have been highlighted, but there was not room to illuminate them all. Ours is a vibrant ministry and continues to grow.
Part of the reason that I believe that this ministry is thriving is Phill's commitment to excellence in all that we do and part is the vast talent pool that we have involved in the leading of worship in our congregation.
A larger part though, I think is Phill's and our commitment to praying for each other in our groups during practice and beyond. God honors that commitment. In the 116Th Psalm the writer says, "I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me. Therefore, I will call upon Him as long as I live."
This paints a word picture for me of a grandfather, leaning in to hear every word of his dear little grandchild, straining not to miss a single sound. How great is our God!!!
In an effort to unite in prayer for our church, we have all been invited to participate in the Tuesday evening time in the Chapel for the month of June. We meet for about an hour and pour out our hearts to God. It is not necessary to spend the whole hour, come and pray and leave as you will.
This is important to me and I am asking that it become important to you. The leadership of our church, the Pastors and Ministry Directors, the Elders and Deacons all need the guidance of our Heavenly Father as we strive to find His will for our church.
Please, if you can, come and pray with us, whether it is every Tuesday or just one. I know that there are many reasons not to, ball games, gardens, grass to mow and on and on. But I know that if we come to Him together, He will hear us with an inclined ear and will pour out his blessings on us. If you can't come and join with us in the Chapel, please commit to praying where ever you are.
Thanks for listening,
Forever in His service
Garry Bradley

Worship Ministry Update: June 8

This is the weekly worship ministry blog!  If you would rather not receive this, just reply to me and let me know!  I'll take you off the list if I'm a bother to you. :)

A short blog this week!  My head is still spinning from last week.  Baby Alyssa only woke us up once last night.  Praise the Lord!

Praise Team Schedule

Your praise team schedule is due today!  Please send me your dates that you can serve on the praise team for July 5 through August 30.   Brenda Esparza will be putting the schedule together this week.

Value of the Month: Take a Break

Examples abound throughout the Old and New Testament about taking time off.  Consider how many days God commanded the Israelite nation to take a break.  They had a "Sabbath day" every week (Exodus 20:8-11).  In addition, they observed numerous feasts and festivals throughout the year when they did no "regular work" (Leviticus 23).  They also had a "Sabbath year" (Leviticus 25:1-7).  Imagine being commanded to take an entire year off from "sowing your fields."  Sign me up for that!!!

As I have said and will say again: taking a break from serving for a season is not only Biblical, but practical.  Do you feel a bit overwhelmed by your service in the worship ministry?  Then take a break!  No one will be upset with you if you feel like taking a few months off.  Remember, God has blessed us with many people who are serving in the worship ministry.  A little time off will rejuvenate and inspire you.  Don't feel guilty about it.  God in His infinite wisdom realized our need for a break now and then.

However, make sure you come back! :)  A period of rest is good, but just warming a pew for the rest of your life is not so good. :)

With all that being said, I am taking a vacation day this Sunday, so I'll see you again on the 21st.  Jake, our worship ministry intern, will be leading worship for the first time.  I know he'll do a great job!

    God bless,

        Phill
