Mother's Day Drama
- I need a mom (30-40's), a grandmother (60's or above) a toddler boy, and elementary age boy, a (male) graduating senior with a graduation gown for a nonspeaking drama for Mother's day this Sunday. Let me know if you're interested!
Praise Team Practice Moves to Wednesday Nights Starting May 18
Thanks for being flexible! It will move back to Tuesday nights starting September 13.
Value of the Month "I'm a 10"
- 1 Corinthians 12:27-28 "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance and of different kinds of tongues."
- You are a 10 in something because God created you that way! You were created with specific talents, quirks, desires and gifts. God has given you a specific personality type. He created you special. As Ephesians 2:10 says: "for we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."
- God created me with the specific talents of focus, vision and creative thinking. So some specific careers are best suited for me. And just maybe, as Ephesians says, God planned them for me long before I was born.
The top 5 for me:
- 1) Minister (good to know, huh?) :)
- 2) Pilot
- 3) Special Forces (Green Berets, S.W.A.T., etc.)
- 4) Management
- 5) Computer Programming
- (Right now you are thinking: What on earth does ministry and special forces have to do with each other? The guy in the S.W.A.T. truck has the same basic personality as my worship minister? Yikes. I'll bet Phill has his reasons for telling us this, but I'm about to quit reading and post some random stuff on Facebook instead. Really? I mean REALLY?)
- The answer to your question is . . . yes! For many reasons, the answer is yes. I'll give you one: a career as a minister and special forces requires a level head at all times (2 Timothy 4:5, ask your cousin in the Navy). The ability to think ahead, remain emotionally stable, and keep the mission of the organization in the forefront at all times are imperative for both careers. While the skills are vastly different, the basic talents and innate personality traits mesh well.
- So how 'bout you? Do YOU want to find out if you could join me in the S.W.A.T. truck? Click here to take a personality test: www.humanmetrics.com
- It'll take you 8 minutes (yes Louis, EXACTLY 8 minutes :) just don't over think it. After you finish the test you'll find a personality type description, a career indicator, and famous personalities that share your type.
- I'd also be very interested to hear about your results! Let me know your results if you feel comfortable. I'm very curious and interested in how God specifically created you!
St. Mary's Planetree
- St. Mary's contacted me last week about their planetree program: they would like us to play some music at the hospital for their patients: their goal is to "offer a wide range of healing arts opportunities to those we care for, and we are always looking to add to our roster of performers."
- Please contact the Healing Arts Coordinator at 812.485.4882 or go online to stmarys.org/planetree and click on "Healing Arts Program" to complete the Healing Arts Survey. Or just talk to me on Sunday. Or send a carrier pigeon to my office window. :) Seriously, I think this would be a good ministry for us, to "be the hands and feet of Jesus to families."
