4th Quarter Schedules

Praise team, please send your 4th quarter schedule to Julie Gorman at juliegorman@wowway.com  Please send her your schedule by Monday morning, September 17.

Value of the Month: Matthew 18

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.  But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’  If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector (Matthew 18:15-17).

Jesus' command to us is clear: if a Christian friend wrongs you, your best course of action would be to go directly to that person and talk it out, without talking to twenty other people about it first.  Go to this person in love and do your best to "win this person over" (18:15).

Make sure you also don't take this out of context.  Look at what Jesus said right before this section:

In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish (18:14).

Can you feel God's love and acceptance for everyone in this verse?  Well, Peter doesn't seem to get it.  Because after Jesus finishes this section, Peter asks Jesus "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” (18:21)

I love Jesus' answer:

"I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times" (18:22).

It is in that spirit of love and acceptance that I urge you to "do a Matthew 18."
